The Big List of Top Dog Blogs - Or, Sniffing out the The Best Dog Blogs So You Don’t Have To!

Dog blogs are a bit like the dog breeds they write about. Some are huge and intelligent, others are more observational and sniff out the latest news. Others are down right bitchy and hunt down everyone from evil dog food manufacturers to those forgetting to scoop that poop.

The bigger dog blogs are like the German Shepherds - they are run by professional editorial teams consisting of specialists on everything from veterinary advice to dog grooming. They excel in everything they do and their presentation is always sleek and polished.

Then you have the semi professional, enthusiastic, medium sized dogs blogs that just like Border Collies are super keen to try out anything from dog obedience, agility or anything else they feel passionate about. These dog blogs presentation are sometimes a bit scruffy, but their heart is always in the right place.

Then there are the smaller personal dog blogs, where bloggers just like Chihuahuas observe the world from the comfort of their owner’s lap and write about anything they might have seen, heard or sniffed in their day to day life. You usually find these dog blogs on blogspot (Blogger) or other free blogging platforms.

I am counting myself to the second category, and having spent the last year getting to know the dog bloghosphere, I know how easy it is to find a thousand dog blogs, but how long it takes to find a few, really good blogs. So I thought I’d share my list of top dog blogs. Enjoy, and please let me know if you think I’ve missed your favourite off the list!

The All Things Dog Blog, run by Carrie Boyko, is growing quickly and is finding its own niche in helping families and dogs living and enjoying each other's company safely. They often run promotions and dog product give aways.

Dog Tipper is a blog run by a husband-wife team of professional writers and lifelong dog lovers based in the Texas Hill Country. They launched DogTipper in 2008, and they like to write about dog tips, pet product reviews, dog news and much, much more.

Max the American Foxhound/Pointer is the mascot of the Dog Files, but don't let his cute face fool you. Under the hood, this blog is crammed full of dog videos and other fun dog stuff that will keep any dog lover entertained for hours.

Blogpaws is an online community and forum where dog bloggers and other pet bloggers go to meet, share ideas and cute dog photos. They also run a very popular weekly bloghop called 'Wordless Wednesday'. It is the place to go if you're looking to get contacts within the pet blogging industry.

That Mutt is one of my absolute favourite dog blogs. Lindsay Stordahl writes about all things dogs, dog training, rescue dogs and raw feeding just the way she sees it. Not always conventional, but always thought provoking and above all interesting!

This blog follows Colby and his adventures and challenges training puppies to become responsible adult working guide dogs. Its the blog to go to if you have any questions about puppy training!

Who says little wiener dogs have to be happy and sit on old ladies laps? Who says small dogs can't go on adventures? This is blog about two adventurous weiner dogs & their humans from Seattle. They are always up to some cool hikes or other adventures that would be really challenging for dogs twice their size. They also write about adventures and hikes that other small dogs have been up to!

They are big. They are slobbery. They are the St Bernard's of the 'Its the Dog's Life' Blog living in Ohio. Their blog is a beautiful mix of gorgeous photos, dog biscuit recipes and anything else that they like!

Do you love the elegant, almost regal looks of the whippets and Greyhounds? Then you'll love the Dogs Rock Blog. The blogger's dogs are treated like rock stars - and with that I mean there's always a camera lens close by and we get to see all the resulting photos!

Dakota & Cheyenne are two purebred Chocolate Labrador Retrievers and the creative brains behind the Lab Brats blog. Well, lets just say they are the inspiration for many of the interesting dog articles and stories featured on the blog.

This blog is as addictive as the dog treats recipes it features. Many of the treats and dog biscuits listed look good enough to eat whether you're human or canine!

The Celebrity Dog Watcher sniffs out the latest news on celebrities and their pooches!
