Swedish Pop Group ABBA’s most popular songs
66ABBA – Sweden’s most successful pop group ever
Everyone loves ABBA, possibly Sweden’s biggest music export of all times with some 375 million records sold world wide. Swedish pop group ABBA was formed in 1970 and the four group members Benny Andersson, Björn Ulvaeus, Agnetha Fältskog and Annifrid Lyngstad stayed together until the band split up in 1983. They had their big international break through in Eurovision Song Contest in 1974, where their song Waterloo won. Nearly thirty years after the band split up their songs are still played worldwide on the radio and there was even a musical and a movie made in recent years.
Here are some of ABBA’s most popular and famous songs:
Dancing Queen 1976 - This song went to number 1 around the world including both the UK and the US and is still played in clubs today
Mamma Mia 1975 - This song became the group’s second number 1 and today Mamma Mia is mostly known as the title song for the hugely popular musical and movie Mamma Mia, based around ABBA’s songs.
Knowing Me Knowing You 1977 -This is a sad, sad break up song recorded before the relationship issues between the group members were known in the media.
Take a Chance on Me - This song was one of ABBA’s most successful pop songs, ending up on number 1 for three weeks in the UK and reaching the top three in the US.
SOS 1975 - This is one of ABBA’s songs that have been most critically acclaimed by other musicians, and of course it hit the top charts like a rocket in both the UK and the US although it never made number 1.

I've always liked Waterloo. Not sure exactly why. Great article.
