So you have a dog and you love him - of course you'll get him a gift this Valentine! After all, dogs are the very epitome of love so how could you possibly resist those puppy eyes on the national love day of the year? 1. Start the day as you mean to go on. Serve his kibble in a perfect heart shape!

4. Buy him a Valentine's Card from the shops and spread the inside with peanut butter and sliced banana before you seal the envelope. He will be sure to get the message even if he can't actually read a single word.

5. Take him for a long walk in his favourite park and hide some heart shaped dog biscuits for him to find along the way. If your dog park is full of hungry dogs, your back yard might be a safer bet though!

10. Don't forget a nice belly rub, or a game of fetch can go a long way to reach your dog's heart too!
